Short answer

Are Muse connectors safe?

They can be, if you know what each one is allowed to do. Read-only connectors, like Ubersuggest, can’t change anything. Others can publish website changes, send email, or change ad budgets. The safest show you a change before it happens, through a preview, a draft, or a campaign created paused, and let you undo it. Directory connectors are reviewed by Meta; custom connectors are not.

Read-only connectors vs. connectors that act

Every connector exposes a set of tools. Read tools pull information: a report, a keyword list, an audit. Action tools change something: a page goes live, an email sends, a budget moves. Before you rely on a connector, ask Muse to list its tools and say which ones change things.

Guardrails worth looking for

Preview first
AI Website Builder shows every change on a private preview before it goes live.
Drafts and approval
Digital Marketing & SEO saves website changes as drafts and publishes only after you approve.
Created paused
AdCrunch and AdLoop create new campaigns paused, so nothing spends until you turn it on.
A second confirmation
AdLoop needs a separate confirmation to apply any Google Ads change and enforces budget caps on its server.
Undo and logs
AI Website Builder lets you undo its changes; AdCrunch records every change on an Activity page.
Hard limits
AdCrunch can’t delete, change existing targeting, or set bids at all, whatever you ask.

Directory vs. custom: who reviewed it?

Connectors in the Muse directory went through Meta’s review for functional, security, and legal requirements, plus end-to-end testing. Custom connectors, the ones you add from an MCP address, didn’t. That doesn’t make them unsafe, but it means the maker’s own documentation is your main source of truth. Read it, and check what the tools do before you approve anything. Our guide to adding a connector covers both routes.

Habits that keep you in control

  • Enter passwords and access keys only where Muse asks for credentials, never in a normal chat message.
  • Approve actions one at a time. Be wary of “always allow” for anything that spends money, publishes, or sends.
  • Try a new connector on something read-only first.
  • For ads, set a spending limit in the ad platform itself as a backstop.
  • When you stop using a connector, revoke its access key or sign it out with the maker too.

When something goes wrong

If a connector does something you didn’t expect, stop and undo it in the product itself: roll back the page, pause the campaign, or check the email platform’s sent log. Then look at the tool list again to see which action it used. If the maker offers an activity log, it’s the fastest way to see exactly what changed. Our methodology explains how we weigh these safeguards in our rankings.

Frequently asked questions

Can a Muse connector spend my money?

Some can. Ads connectors can change budgets or launch campaigns, and email connectors can send to your list. Look for connectors that create campaigns paused and ask you to confirm, and approve each change yourself.

Which Muse marketing connectors are read-only?

Of the connectors we review, Ubersuggest is read-only: it supplies SEO data and doesn’t change your website. Digital Marketing & SEO only changes websites connected to its maker, after you approve; on any other site it tells you what to change.

Does Meta review Muse connectors?

Connectors in the Muse directory are reviewed for functional, security, and legal requirements and tested end to end. Custom connectors you add from an MCP address are not reviewed by Meta.

Can I undo what a connector did?

It depends on the connector. AI Website Builder lets you undo its changes. For ads, you can pause or reverse changes in the ad platform, and AdCrunch logs every change so you can see what to reverse.
